Fascinating Foujita artwork at auction in Stockholm

 TSUGUHARU FOUJITA «Autoprtrait au chat», at the Bukowski Modern spring sale in Stockholm 28th April

The Bukowski Modern Spring sale, features a wide variety of Modern and Contemporary art. Among the more prestigious paintings, is Japanese born Tsuguharu Foujitas “Autoportrait au chat, dated 1928.

The artist of east and west – Japanese born Tsuguharu Foujita (1886-1968), achieved great fame in Paris during the 1920’s. He became known for his portraits of women and motifs with cats. Today, Foujita is represented at numerous high class museums worldwide, i.e. Japan, France, the US and South America. A self portrait with cat has not been on the auction market since 1998, when sold at Christies, New York, for USD 129 000. A painting from 1917, reached USD 295.000, in Japan. The “Autoportrait au chat”, now offered, has never been on the market before. Estimate €89 000-135 000/ SEK 1 000 000-1 500 000.
