б. Kibovsky. Head of Rosokhrancultura

On December 23 a solemn ceremony will take place. Federal Service for the Monitoring of Compliance With Legislation in the Area of the Protection of Cultural Heritage will pass meteoritic and paleonthological materials as well as numismatic objects to Fersman Mineralogical Museum of the Russian Academy of Sciences, State Darwin Museum and State Historical Museum.

The ceremony will be assisted by the head of the above-mentioned service Alexander Kibovsky and the head of the Administration of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in Moscow and Moscow District general-colonel Viktor Zakharov.

In October 2005 employees of Vyborg custom house arrested a collection of the Russian coins of the 18th century, paleonthological specimens (petrified remains of pre-historical animals and plants) and meteorites of different types. Employees of scientific institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Geological Department of the Moscow State University were exporting them to Finland. They were intended to sell them at the annual mineralogical exhibition «Munchen Metals Days» in Germany. All the detained specimens were sent back to Russia and experted carefully for several months. As a result they were considered as cultural values.

The Vyborg city court in Leningrad Oblast came to the decision to convey the objects to specialized Moscow museums.
