Antiquorum showed “pre-crisis” figures

The two-day auctions of watches of specialized Antiquorum house held on November 15 and 16 in Grand Hotel Kempinski in Geneva showed unexpected high results. The general results of the auctions which featured different clock mechanisms, accessories and instruments reached impressive CHF 15 326 100. According to statistics the total result from sale of watches made 136% of the estimated cost.

A set of two enamel pocket watches made in about 1815 in Great Britain and presented by King George III to Emperor of China Jiāqing (1796−1820) showed the highest result. Both chronometres had identical mechanisms by celebrated watch-maker Jean-Abraham Lissignol (1749−1819). Gold cases are decorated with pearls and covered with excellent enamel. The lot was sold for
CHF 2 608 000. Extremely rare Patek Philippe watch dated to 1950 was sold for CHF 1 376 000 (estimate: CHF 400 000-600 000). The watch is made of pink gold and supplied with a wide set of options including the indicator of phases of the moon, a stop watch and perpetual calendar.

The collection gold Patek Philippe watch 2497 model of 1953 was sold by auction for CHF 620 000.

The third Patek model, a rare wrist watch in a case from pink gold was sold for CHF 462 000 having exceeded the estimated more than in twice. This 1949 model became one of the first chronometres of the firm. The watch has not all usual options and supplied with a 30-minute register as well as two additional stop watches.

Unusual Patek Philippe The Celestia Wristwatch created in 2006 in the limited number was in top-10 having exceeded an estimate. This futuristic mechanism was sold for CHF 344 200. The case of watch is made of high-standard white gold. Its blue dial is decorated with gold stars and a crescent. A special indicator shows not only phases, but also a moon orbit as well as time of transfer of Sirius and Moon across meridian. Among more traditional options is a self-winding system.

Rolex watches unlike Patel Philippe showed not so good results: any of the models did not enter the list of top ten of the auctions. Instead of them it is necessary to note original mechanism Platinum Opus V Harry Winston and Felix Baumgartner. This watch was made in number of hundred copies in 2005. The massive water-proof case is made of platinum. The dial is supplied with the indicator of day and night. The minute dial placed on a semicircle like a speedometer of the car is of the unusual design. The lot was sold for CHF 226 200.
