Jewellery auction in London: unpretentious and tasteful

On the 6th of November in London there will be conducted the jewellery auction Fine Jewels. The auction house Sotheby’s won’t exhibit masterpieces worth a million, such as it was at the recent auction in Hong Kong. There also won’t be expensive antique jewellery. This time Sotheby’s will present a small, but very organic collection, reflected all branches of the modern jewellery design. In Fine Jewels catalogue there declared 200 lots estimated in a range £1000–120 000.

The top lot of the auction will be a smart necklace made of small diamonds skillfully faceted and rock-crystal. Crystal rings make a kind of chain’s links in the middle of which there are diamonds. The necklace’s length is about 450 mm, its estimate £80 000-120 000.

The necklace, watches, bracelet, ring and a pair of ear-rings are estimated much cheaper £40 000-50 000. There used small diamonds which make an effective background for the oval sapphires skillfully faceted. The producer of this jewellery is unknown; however the watches have a brand name of the famous company Chopard.

One more diamond necklace will be exhibited at the auction; its estimate is £35 000-45 000. The necklace is consisted of three diamond strings with diamond pendants fastened at the lock. The length of the necklace is 450 mm. Product with a similar design, the diamond chain which length is 1854 mm will be exhibited in narrower price range. The estimate of this lot is £40 000-42 000. The chain is made of many small diamonds, having classic facets and fixed in metal frames.

The fifth place in the catalogue of top lots there takes a luxurious and rather massive diamond necklace with sapphires estimated at £25 000–40 000.

One of the most interesting lots is a golden ring with diamonds made by the masters of London company George Pragnell. The ring is made in the form of a flower which petals are decorated with the deposit of white diamonds. In the middle there is one big jewel (0,82 carats) of yellow colour. The estimate is declared in a rather big range £20 000-40 000.
