Russian museum will represent exhibitions «Time to gather …» in Moscow

The State Russian museum will represent exhibitions «Time to gather …» and «XX century in the Russian museum» in Moscow. The exhibition project which unites unique exhibitions – «Time to gather …» and «XX century in the Russian museum» will be launched on June 11, in the Grand Palace of the State Memorial Estate «Tsaritsino». The scale exposition organized under the auspices of AFK «Sistema» is dated for the celebration of the 110 anniversary of the Russian Museum which is the first state museum of Russian fine arts in Russia.

A «Time to Gather…» exhibition gives a unique opportunity to see the artworks from different collections of different countries of the world. Most part of the artworks is presented in Russia at the first time. Among them there are the works of such artists of the XVIII – the first half of the XIX centuries as Fyodor Rokotov, Vladimir Borovikovsky, Karl Briullov, Orest Kiprensky and Aleksey Venetsianov that were known for narrow circle of specialists before.

The exposition represents works by such artists as Maria Vasilyeva, Pavel Mansurov, Piotr Galadjev, Vasily Ermilov. The exhibition comprises also works by Aristarkh Lentulov, Robert Falk, Pyotr Konchalovsky, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, Kazimir Malevich, Mikhail Larionov and Natalya Goncharova, David Burliuk, Alexandra Exter.

In the collections there are good deals of historical and art rarities. They are: the golden samovar of Emperor Alexander III; the hinged icon that was presented by Saint-Petersburg nobility to Emperor Nikolay II; several imperial snuff-boxes and boxes that were made in the Faberge Workshops.

The exhibition will be opened till July 10.

The exhibition «XX century in the Russian museum» will display masterpieces of Russian and foreign art from funds of the museum and from its permanent exposition. The exhibition will represent painting of Russian «Silver Age» and avant-guard: Michael Vrubel, Konstantin Somov, Valentine Serov, Wassily Kandinsky, Natalia Goncharova, Michael Larionov, masters of «Jack of Diamonds» association. Art of the Soviet epoch, in all variety of tendencies, is represented by works of the artists of 1920 – 1990s, from Alexander Samohvalov and Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin to Ivan Chuikov and Eric Bulatov. Famous monumental canvas «Defense of Sevastopol» by Alexander Deineka and «Hymn to October» by Alexander Gerasimov will be the highlights of military and post-war sections. Art of «thaw» period is represented in the exposition with works by A. Plastov, V. Ivanov, G. Korzhev, V. Popkov, A. Mylnikov, T. Nazarenko, D. Zhilinsky … Collection of painting is supplemented with small, but impressive collection of sculpture including works by P. Trubetskoy, A. Matveev, L. Shervud, S Lebedeva, V. Muhina, L. Sokov. In Moscow famous foreign part of the collection of the Russian museum will represent masterpieces by Picasso, Jasper Johns, Rauschenberg, Warhol, Boyes.

The exhibition will be opened till September 9.
