Cabinet has accomplished the auction year successfully

A so-called auction-antiquarian year (September-June) was very successful for the Cabinet auction house. It is proved with the results of the last auction in this season named Items of History. Orders, Medals, Badges of the Russian Empire №5.

For a short period of existence of the Cabinet antiquarian structure as auction house (first auction sales were held on June, 2006) Cabinet had already held 15 auctions, among them 8 was for a season of 2007-2008 (a business season of the auction sales from September, 2007 – June 2008). However, what is really important is that this Russian house, certainly, has proved itself as the most innovative and quite successfully and structurally diversifying auction business (for example, Cabinet began to hold auction of objects of art of the Ancient world (the second Russian auction in the history named Art of the Ancient World was organized together with Arkhious gallery on May 20, 2008). For the first time the auction named Russian Applied Art of the XVIII – the early XX centuries and Faberge’s Works (December 15, 2007) was held in Russia. The auction represented 19 items by the most famous Russian jewelry Karl Faberge firm. The auction sales are held almost in all Antique-Collection directions which can be met at a world market of works of art. Including books – auctions Ancient and Rare Books were held in October 2007 and in February 2008. Russian Painting and Graphic Art of the XIX-XX centuries auction held on May 24, 2008 represented the magnificent collection of works of Russian art of the XIX – the early XX centuries. In many respects this selection of Russian painting was superior to similar collections of world auction giants. However, according to organizers of auctions and to information of the number of sold lots and total results of the auction sales the so-called Historical auction sales are the most successful course nowadays. In this season auctions Items of Military History. Orders, Medals, Badges of the Russian Empire took place for three times. The auction held on March 1, 2008 made the world record on the Russian awards – the Diamond Star of the Order of Saint Ekaterina (the Big Cross) was sold for 26 million roubles! Moreover, it was the first in the history open auction sale in Russia when the lot was sold for more than one million US dollars.
