FAIR OF DRAWINGS AND PRINTS

On April 23 – 27 the 23d Fair of drawings and prints will be held in London at Royal Academy of Arts. Everybody will have an opportunity to buy works of prominent artists.

Art is of highest popularity for today. In London museums visitors’ attendance grew in 86% for the last five years.

Fair will represent works by Antony Gormley, Louise Bourgeois, Andy Warhol and Georg Baselitz. Their exhibitions of the previous year generated considerable excitement among English art-lovers.

Original prints are not copies or reproductions that is why fair gives a splendid opportunity to buy the original work of great artist for reasonable price. Price for masterpieces and rarities exceeds £5000 seldom. Beginners always can get a professional advice from experts who participate in forum.

Some publishing houses prepared alluring novelties for the present fair. Paragon Press will present a line of new works by Georg Baselitz and also five engravings on wood and prints by Anish Kapoor. Hilary and Georgie Gerrish will display a unique in its diversity selection of prints and sketches by Andy Warhol.

Modern art-market is developing quickly. It is shown in constant increase of the number of fair participants. This year one of the new comers is TAG Fine Arts which will represent new works by Robert Ryan. His paper masterpieces are unique and of great popularity among connoisseurs. His works are always at the covers of books and magazines such as the «Vogue » magazine. Once he decorated the Statue of Liberty in New York with his drawings.

The «Alan Cristea» gallery will represent the last works by Michael Craig-Martin. Among them a cycle named «Intimate Relations» will be displayed. It includes three large-format prints such as «Sunglasses», «Pin», «Handcuffs». They are in Michael Craig-Martin traditional manner which is concentrated at usual things. The gallery will also bring new works by Julian Opie and Boo Ritson.

The exposition of the «Osborne Samuel» gallery will be dedicated to one artist. It will represent prints by Anthony Ghormley including 40 lithographs of his series named «Sympathetic Field» which combines monumentality with figurativity.

The «Visconti Fine Art» publish house will participate for the first time. Their representatives took an active part in graphic biennale in Ljubljana. They cooperate with such publishing houses as «Stoney Road Press» in Dublin, «Avantgart» in Heimbach, Germany and «Dolan/Maxwell» in Philadelphia.

The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers will participate also for the first time.

Jan Johnson, a famous art-agent from Montreal and Catherine Burns from California, an expert in prints from paintings of the European and American artists of the 19th –20th centuries will add to impressive staff.

Though prints of modern artists predominate there will be a considerable number of prints from pictures of Old Masters. Fair’s success depends on the diversity of the given collections.
