TIFFANY AT DOYLE NEW YORK SALES

On February 13, the auction house Doyle New York will hold the sales named Belle époque auction. The auction will present more than fifty hundred lots of fine and applied art in all its diversity. There will be extravagant pieces of interiors in a style of the last French Bourbons, of Victorian Epoch, Art Nouvo and Art Décor.
Auctioneers will appreciate works made of glass, porcelain and silver, bronze and ivory, marble statues, watches, chandeliers, candelabrums, carpets and works of Tiffany & Co workshops. There will be not only the collection of furniture and furnishings but also pictures of Art Nouvo period.

Among the top-lots Tiffany bronze lamp is the first. It is made in Moresque style with thirty six prismy pendants of amber glass. Netlike lamp-shade is made of tortoise-shell and decorated with twenty insertion of amber glass. The lot is estimated at $25 000–30 000.

The other interesting top-lot is a set of silver flatware made by Charles Grosjean from Tiffany & Co. The set consists of nine forks for main course and nine forks for lunch, nine spoons for soup, nine ¬ for tea, nine ¬ for coffee and ten spoons for dessert; six dinner knives, twelve knives for fish, twelve knives for fruits and six knives for butter and also eleven different devices. All the pieces are decorated with engraving of floral and terramorphous motives. In particular marine animals are depicted on the knives for fish. Also the set includes sauce-boat and a separate knife for butter. The general weight of pieces is 4500 gr. The set is estimated at $25 000–35 000.

The other highlight is splendid Erard grand piano in a style of Ludovic XVI. The work is made of amboyna. The length of the instrument is about two meters. The lot is estimated at $25 000–35 000.

Auctioneers should also pay attention to charming richly ornamented chest of drawers in Ludovic XVI style. It is decorated with metal gilded cover plates. Right-angled lid with splay angles is made of smoky marble. The very chest of drawers is decorated with scenes in antique style. Half nude Venus at chariot with two Cupids on leopards is depicted on one of them. The chest of drawers is estimated at $8000–12 000.
