The Hermitage in the Kremlin

The display titled «Gallery of the Hermitage’s treasures» closes the art project dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the museums of the Moscow Kremlin. The State Hermitage Museum (St. Petersburg) has taken to Moscow extremely comprehensive selection of unique artworks from its collection. The showcase features rare archeological findings (Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire), Scythian gold art pieces, jewelry decorations created by Chinese masters through XVII–XVIII centuries, masterpieces by Russian Court jewelers and artworks by Faberge Company. Eighty showpieces from the Hermitage’s famous Gold Treasury – cameos, snuffboxes, caskets, precious clasps, pocket watches and gemstone flowers have nave left the Petersburg museum before.

Among the highlights of the exhibited collection is a copy of the crown jewels of the Russian Empire created by Faberge. The Court Jeweler of the Russian Emperors was awarded the title of the best jeweler in the world for the regalia at the World Exhibition in Paris.

The exhibition is open at the Assumption cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin up to February 2007.
