Art Nouveau in Vienna

It is beyond dispute that the best way to learn more about the life and oeuvre of famous Austrian Art Nouveau artists Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele is to visit Vienna. Among the most interesting and important Viennese museums is a Belvedere gallery. The permanent exhibition of the gallery features the famous Klimt’s masterpiece «The Kiss», the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by Oscar Kokoschka and Schiele, pieces by representatives of the Biedermeier style, and many other exceptional works of art created by European artists.

The exhibition titled «After Schiele» (Austrian and World art of XIX and XX centuries) will be on view at the Upper Belvedere museum up to February 11, 2007. At about the same time the Museum of Applied and Modern Art hosts the exhibition of Viennese studios (Joseph Hoffmann, Koloman Moser) «Architectural Models of XX century». The display also includes art pieces by studios Coop Himmelblau, Frank O. Gehry, Lebbeus Woods, beech furniture in Art Deco style, and Gustav Klimt’s woks created for Palais Stoclet.
