Artworks by Miles Davis

Miles Davis (1926–1991)

A collection of artworks by legendary jazz star Miles Davis will be displayed for the first time in Edinburgh, Scotland on Wednesday, September 21. His last painting, entitled «Gold Face», will form part of an exhibition called «The Art of Miles Davis» at the Dome Restaurant.

According to gallery owner Jonathan Poole, who previously hosted photographic exhibitions of John Lennon and Marilyn Monroe at the Dome, the famous trumpet player «always drew, but all his paintings were from the last ten years of his life; he never used an easel».

Miles Davis began painting after suffering a stroke in 1980, which stopped him from being able to play the trumpet. He died in 1991.
