On-line charity auction to help victims of Hurricane Katrina

An on-line charity auction organized to help victims of Hurricane Katrina will be opened on September 2 and run through September 16 on the Charity Folks Web site. Proceeds will go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. One of the organizers of the event is an Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman.

The auction featuring corporate-donated items will include the opportunity to attend a screening of Freeman’s upcoming film, «An Unfinished Life», and resort getaway and memorabilia packages from various movies.

Morgan Freeman last year helped establish the Grenada Relief Fund in response to the devastation wrecked on the Caribbean island by Hurricanes Ivan and Emily.
The American Red Cross has already raised $21 million, with nearly $15 million coming from individual donations through the Red Cross’ Web site.
