Thamara Damayanthi. Living with nature

Exhibition of water-colours by Thamara Damayanthi will be held at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery, Colombo from August 12-14. The show is entitled «Thisoba», which is the short form of «Athi-Soba» and that means «of maximum serenity». This is the second exhibition of the artist under the same title.

Majority of the paintings in this exhibition represent the scenic beauty of Sri Lanka’s landscapes. Thamara’s favourite medium is water-colour. The majority of her subjects are inspired by rural environment. They include studies of skies and landscapes, rocky sites, water, clusters of trees, religious edifices and scenes depicting villagers’ everyday life. Thamara Damayanthi creates her works with a deep sense of love and sympathy to the country where she was born and bred.
