A sculpture by Henry Moore may bring $1 million

Henry Moore. Mother and Child. 1931

One of the most important sculptures by Henry Moore «Mother and Child» will be auctioned at forthcoming Bonhams sale of 20th Century British Art on November 29 at New Bond Street, London. The sculpture was created in 1931 and is believed to be one of the artist’s most accomplished works. The motif of Mother and Child, along with that of the reclining figure was one that obsessed and intrigued Moore who strove to depict the inner essence of his subject as seen in this unique piece. The small size of the work is in inverse proportion to its extraordinary presence as a work of art.

«Mother and Child» by Henry Moore is estimated to fetch up to $1 million.
