«SOVCOM» prepares for a new season

V. Tsyplakov. Praise Stalin the Great. 1950. Oil on canvas. 70 x 90 cm

Moscow-based gallery «SOVCOM» has assembled a collection of rarities that will be auctioned at the first sales of the coming season on September 10.

Traditionally, 100 lots will go under hammer. Pretentious and pompous painting «Praise Stalin the Great» by V. Tsyplakov is considered to be the top lot of the event. This comparatively small canvas (70 x 90 cm) was painted four years before death of the Communist Leader. The work, coming from a private collection is a final study of the painting of the same name (created in 1950, 321 x 525 cm) by Y. Kugach, V. Nechitailo and V. Tsyplakov. The latter is situated in the State Russian Museum.

The painting by V. Tsyplakov is estimated to fetch $50,000–55,000.
