Viennese surgeon Heinrich Lill collection

A tea-pot with a lid. Du Paquier Porcelain. Ca. 1725-1730. Estimate €10,000-20,000

The collection of the famous Viennese surgeon Heinrich Lill (1918-2004), will be up for auction as part of the second auction week from the 31st of May until the 3rd of June 2005 at Dorotheum Vienna. The collection encompasses a wide variety of meaningful Austrian paintings and graphic works, valuable porcelain, high quality historical wristwatches, fine selection of furnishings, and outstanding silver objects.

As for the internationally acclaimed collection from Du Paquier Porcelain, a separate porcelain auction will take place. Among the best pieces of this early Viennese porcelain collection, of which Heinrich Lill especially appreciated, include among others a beaker he acquired with a painted garden chinoiserie ca. 1722 (estimate € 12,000 – 20,000) and a basin with chinoiserie ca. 1730-1735 (estimate € 8,000-15,000). Another notable lot from the same collection is an unusual painted tea-pot with a frogling on its lid. It is decorated with small figures of different animals. The nose of the tea-pot is executed as a head of the unknown (estimate €10,000-20,000).
