Australian landscape exhibition

The world renowned sculptor and the Head of Sculpture at the Australian National University School of Art Michael Le Grand will open Saturday May 7 “In Tune” exhibition at The Old Vic Inn 56 Gaskill St. Canowindra.

This project of Canberra and Canowindra art communities presents the works of the local artist Peter Larsen and Canberra/Braidwood artist Fran Ifould.

Peter Larsen’s latest works display the artist’s love for the Australian landscape and its rich heritage. Peter works mainly with water colors, the medium that he is most comfortable with, allowing him to capture with confidence the moment or the essence of the subject. Primarily a self taught artist, he finds inspiration from the likes of John Lovett, Nita Engle and Herma Pekel.

In 1998, Fran, after 25 years of professional practice in Ceramics, concentrated on developing her drawing and painting skills. She studied in figure and portrait painting at the Australian National University Art School, Canberra. Her paintings and silk screened images are artistic impressions of things close to her heart. The paintings, small and intimate, are explorations of patterns in the Australian landscape.Artworks in this exhibition are mainly acrylic glazes on canvas.

During the exhibition, Fran will be resident in the Old Vic Inn Studio, where she will be working on her art for the whole of May. Her intention is to record the natural, social, and economic events of this area.

The growing profile of Canowindra Art Network exhibitions is again reflected by the quality of dignitaries willing to open its events.
