Unseen Picasso Tapestry Featured at Exhibition

A never before seen Picaso tapestry is on view at an exhibition that included works by twenty artists that have links to Sant Cugat (Barcelona). The Picasso work is titled “Still-life under light” and was created by Picasso in 1965. The work belongs to a private collector and will go on sale for 253,000 euros. The tapestry is on view at the Casa Aymat de Sant Cugat, where the Catalonian Tapestry School is located. The exhibition also opens the house-shop that had been closed for more than twenty years. The exhibition was organized by Galeria Canals and includes a never before seen work by Josep Guinovart. The goal of the exhibition is that “the paintings, sculptures and tapestries take the visitors back to the times of Sant Cugat and introduces them to the great artistic activity that took place in the 20th century,” stated its promoter and curator Josep Canals.
The exhibition is titled “El Arte del Siglo XX en Sant Cugat 1900-2000” and will be on view through June 30, 2003.
